The sales figures were toppling records at both General Motors and Pontiac while outpacing a number of the competitors by sweet margins. They were turning in fabulous track times in competition and people who just appreciated and enjoyed a good car liked GTO for its solid build quality, power and comfortable cabin. They could be ordered as loaded or as sparse as a client wished with comforts like air conditioning, automatic transmissions, power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes and much more. In 1966 alone, 96,946 GTOs were built between hardtop coupes, convertibles and sport coupes, the lowest being the sport coupe tallying up 10,363 units built. This 1966 GTO was owned by the original owner until 2007 and underwent an extensive, no-expense-spared concours restoration by Thornton Muscle Cars in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Under the hood is the matching-numbers 389 CI V-8 engine with single 4-barrel carburetor linked to a rare 3-speed manual transmission. Well optioned the GTO has power steering, power brakes, AM/FM radio with power antenna, wood steering wheel, the shoulder map light and Hurst wheels to name a few elements making up this unique muscle car. The car retains its T3 headlights, correct jack and spare assembly. The recipient of several concours awards, it will be sold with the PHS documentation, Protect-O-Plate and original owner??s manual. One of the nicest most meticulously restored cars I have ever owned. A true blue chip collector car. Perfection is an understatement. Please call or text with any questions or trade offers. Thanks, John. [hidden information].**** No Emails ****
