Description
Very Sadly the HJ Belmont-Kingswood has to go, there just isn't enough room in the shed anymore. It's been an on-going project for a couple of years now, but it's time for her to go.
She's an original 1975 BELMONT Twin Bench Seat 173 Red Powered Wagon. It is not a Kingswood, but the majority just see it as Kingswood and I couldn't list both badge types , and there was knowhere to change the 202 to 173.
Runs (like a kitten), Drives (like a boat), Stops (Eventually).
Both Gas and Petrol work and starts first time on petrol then easily flicks over onto gas.
It is 95% there, missing a couple of guard badges and a few bits and pieces from inside, but the majority of the hard work finding parts has been done.
It is an absolute driver, put it on club plates and drive it down the coast tomorrow. However the suspension and brakes will all need to be done at some point, as I have barely driven it, and it is 45 odd years old.
The driver side doors are all good, the passenger side are OK on the outer skins, but the inners where the door rubbers meet the internal jams are rusted. They are fixable and could be fiber-glassed, but if you managed to find some other doors down the track I would certainly grab them. They do have they great Aussie Holden clunk when they shut though, and they all line up like original doors should.
The rear tail gate is pretty much gone on the inside, again it's fixable...... but its easily the worst part of the car. However I have managed to find another one that is as perfect as you can find for an old girl, and can come with the car for the right price. Took me 18 months to find it.
The inside section of the windscreen in the bottom drivers side corner is rusted, it's where the water would sit because the windscreen is a bit past it. I put in a new-old dash pad. but the rust is still there in the cnr.
The inside rear window section at the very back is also rusty on the driver side, I made new trims for the back, but the rust is still there on the inside. The outside is all good.
I replaced the carpet and checked out the floors, the rear is fine, the front had been patched with a stop sign at some point and riveted in. It's still there, it's nice and solid and adds a bit of charm if you ever pull the carper up!!
The old girl needs a coat of jam, I've been hitting it with a metal guard rust inhibitor spray as I go along and fix things, you can get it in blue so it kind of matches the car. But it needs a full re-spray ....... unless you like a but of patina....... the roof and bonnet look cool.
It has NO REGO and NO RWC.
I'm located in Langwarrin Vic, about an hour south of Melbourne.
Happy for people to come and look or ask questions, we can drive it up and down my street but any further than that needs a permit.
She's a great old girl and as you know they are getting ridiculously hard to find.
It's far from perfect, but it's far from rubbish.
If your looking for a show stopper, keep looking.
If your looking for a Sunday cruiser or trying to re-live your youth and be cool again like me..... this is probably more for you.
Happy to take more photos if needed and send them to you.IT IS ADVERTISED ELSEWHERE SO I REDSERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY IF NEEDED
