1976 RA23 CELICA
Up for sale is my Celica 1UZ Project. Car is a 1976 RA23 Coupe I purchased in 2016 with the intention of fitting a 1UZ however my circumstances have changed and I am unable to complete the project.
The body is in great condition considering the vehicle is 44 years old. I cut small areas of rust from the bottom of one door, just bellow the rear window and behind the rear wheels (This repair section is available from Wolf Steel panels for $78 USD). There were a couple of pinholes around where the rear screen goes in that were sandblasted then coated with rust encapsulator. The frame under the bonnet has a fair bit of rust however fiberglass replacements are available. The entire engine bay has been sandblasted and painted using GM trunk spatter paint.
The car comes with most of the parts needed to put it back together minus front and rear windscreens, the bootlid and a few interior components.
The 1UZ came from a Toyota Celsior with 110,000ks on the clock. The engine ran well without any issues before it was pulled from the donor car. The transmission also shifted smoothly without issue.
Many of the parts to complete the conversion are there including a KE Conversions swap kit that includes a modified K frame and engine mounts. There is also a complete AE86 Corolla power steering setup sourced from Japan. Along with steel fender flares and a set of euro spec flatlights.
The car is a great starting point for someone wanting to put together a V8 Celica with prices on these cars really starting to appreciate.
