1974 AMC Javelin/AMX, 401 - 4 speed, 13,000 miles since rebuild.
This AMX is originally a 360 ride. Many changes and upgrades have made this car a well run, great driving machine. Car was stripped down to shell before rebuild. From the appraiser:The body of the car has been restored to high quality standards and remains in factory stock configuration. The panels are all in very good to excellent damage and rust free condition. The paint was applied in 2009 and shows no deterioration of the
finish. A few minor marks were noted but the finish is smooth and has a brilliant shine. Attention to detail is
evident. The bright trim is original and polished. The fit is tight on all pieces. The bumpers have been rechromed. The vinyl roof is new. The exterior is rated very good to excellent.
The interior has numerous upgrades including custom gauges by Speedhut, new carpet, new
headliner and custom covered Volvo bucket seat that are powered. The rear seat has been covered to match
the front seats. The dash is original and modified to house the gauge package and A/C controls and vents.
The interior is very good to excellent as well. The windshield is new. The side and rear glass is very good. A
JVC stereo with Bluetooth, subwoofer and 4 speakers has been installed. A fuel monitoring module is
present as well. A Vintage Air A/C unit cools the interior for comfort.
The car is coated with a thick layer of undercoating. The panels appear solid and rust free. New
trunk extension panels were installed. The suspension has been upgraded as detailed with rack &
pinion from Flaming River and Control Freaks independent suspension. The rear differential has been rebuilt
and features CalTrac bars. All components are clean and functional. The Flow-Master dual exhaust system is
wrapped to reduce noise and heat transfer. New speed rated Michelin tires are mounted on 18” US Mag alloy wheels.
The engine bay is filled with wiring and control components in an organized and clean fashion. The
car has an aluminum rad and electric fans for cooling. The engine is a custom built 401CI block with fuel
injection and MSD electronic ignition. The engine is clean and detailed. No leaks were noted.
This car is in very good to excellent condition overall. It is built with high quality components that
have been installed correctly with attention to detail evident throughout. The fit and finish is high show
quality. In determining value several similar cars were reviewed but no exact matches were available. This
model was introduced in 1971 and continued through 1974 with body lines not changing to great extent.
Changes were mainly cosmetic to front and rear sections of the car as well as interior items. Samples include
1971-74 cars. Value guides were used as a starting reference point. Credit was applied for upgraded
equipment. In review of the available information and pertinent facts it is my opinion this car would have a
value expressed in Canadian dollars of:
