NO Reserve: I have to move house and this Jeep just has to go - been stored in dry garage in Doreen since damage. If you need this delivered please let me know your suburb so I can confirm the cost - happy to deliver to a transport facility for interstate transport or do anything I can to assist.
I was going to fix this but have run out of time and have to move house so over to somebody else. I originally bought this with no damage for a family member who was getting her P plates but then she got an auto only licence so instead I used it as a daily driver for over a year to cruise mostly by freeways in off peak times from outer suburbs into the city.
Unfortunately this Jeep was then involved in a freak low speed accident which caused the front driver and passenger air bags to deploy. The parts for this air bag replacement sell for between $500 - $1000 second hand. It's a fairly straight forward job.
This Jeep IS NOT recorded as damaged on any government registers or with an insurance company - registration should be simple.
Body: The front quarter panels have moved backwards by about 2mm so I have not been opening the front doors to help avoid any damage to the paint on the front doors or quarter panels. One quarter panel probably keep and the other probably replace - they are about $100. Need to unbolt the front panels and give the front doors more room. They can easily be opened but will just lightly rub against the front quarter panels. Front bumper small amount of damage could probably repair but cheap to replace around $150. Headlights units need to be replaced due to front lease damage. Grill repairable but cheap to replace around $50. A few plastic parts around the top of the radiator around $50.
Mechanically: There are no problems that I am aware of except there must be a small crack in the radiator or a hose connector as the coolant must have slowly drained from the radiator. Coolant reservoir was full when I stored the Jeep but now empty. Can top it up for delivery and it must be a very slow leak so won't be a problem.Good Strong Engine & Gearbox & Clutch Etc Etc - no faults to report. You may need a new battery but this one should be ok for delivery.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
What happened? In a construction zone with fine talcum dust everywhere a flat tray ute in front slammed on brakes and locked up off road tyres and the road tyres on this Jeep couldn't get traction on the lumpy and smooth, hard, dusty surface. ABS kicked on which released brakes and allowed front of Jeep to just lightly bump into rear of flat tray ute. Because the flat tray was higher than the bumper it just pushed the bonnet back which meant the sensors for airbags were somehow triggered but the full front of jeep wasn't properly impacted. Started first time and drove it home - since then its been in a dry garage while I worked out what to do with it. I ended up liking driving it and found it to be really great low cost transport so since its a VW diesel and engine will probably do 1,000,000 kms I thought it deserved a new home and I thought I would maybe put it back on the road but I am now out of time and it has to go.
There was absolutely NO DAMAGE to the flat tray ute that caused the accident - not a scratch - so this really was a very light impact that just hit the jeep on a very weak area and sadly popped the airbags.
With all the repairs and RWC etc it has cost me over $11,000 so should be all good for new owner once fix the light front damage. The day before this happened I had literally just got a wheel alignment and RWC inspection had been done ready to advertise it for sale. This was a shattering event at the time and I couldn't believe it had happened the day I was putting it up for sale - but I was too busy with work to do anything about it so just parked it in this dry garage.
I took a few cracked plastic parts off the top of the radiator to have a look and see how bad the damage and so I could take some photos. This would be a good project for anybody handy with tools who has time.
VERY economical - put $25 diesel in it and drove 300kms in heavy city driving and had heaps of fuel left. About 5 litres per 100kms on highway and maybe 6 point something litres in the city.
This Jeep came with the best engine option - the really strong 2 litre VW / Audi Common Rail Turbo Diesel engine found in many models such as Audi A4 and VW Golf and many many others. In a light 4wd body like this the result is quite a quick car.
Plenty of power to tow or carry full load of passengers safely. It's really nice to drive, feels stable, sticks to the road and stops fast (Usually!).
Front and side curtain airbags and traction control and Electronic Stability Program and ABS and four wheel drive for extra safety. Interior is nice and features are modern such as cruise control and electric windows etc etc - it's a fun comfortable machine to suit many uses.
Factory option Uconnect Bluetooth mobile phone handsfree works very well. Factory Stereo is excellent.
HEAVY DUTY ROOF RACKS + TOWBAR + HUGE INTERIOR SPACE
I have been very happy with this in every way except I had to pay quite a bit to fix a lot of stuff to get strict RWC completed - which I guess is good for you. I will give the new owner all the receipts. Lots of little things added up to total mechanics and parts bill of over $3000 so it shouldn't require any work for quite a while.
I have to move house so no longer have room to store this Jeep and am letting it go at bargain price for a quick sale.
Feel free to ask any questions - eBay messages are easiest for me as can't take calls at work. Will get back to you quickly - always genuinely happy to help.
